Kids prefer the swoosh

At last week’s NCAA Men’s Golf Championship, Nike led the field in shoe count with 66 players wearing Nike golf shoes. The closes competitor was 53. The next closest was 37. There were 156 players in the field and a total of 30 teams.

Titelist was the ball of choice, but the kids seem to like the Swoosh.

It's not that the kids like the Swoosh, it's that they play for Nike schools and have to wear Nike apparel and shoes and carry Nike bags. When I played in college, we had to wear Nike also, but in summer tournaments, Nike is still behind FootJoy and Adidas in terms of shoes.

But it's certainly true that younger golfers are more attracted by Nike's "hip factor" than older, more experienced players.
